Get your mom excited with this video

Our Head of Care made a video for your mom, so she knows what to expect before she picks up the phone.

Your mom's brain can still grow stronger. Research shows the brain continues to form new connections throughout life when it's consistently stimulated, the same way the body responds to regular movement.

Velma provides structured exercises and guided conversations every day, designed to keep her mind active, her mood lifted, and her sense of self intact.

The earlier engagement starts, the more it matters. High cognitive reserve (built through regular activity!) can delay symptom onset by years, even after physical changes in the brain have already begun.

Getting started is easy.

We’ll guide your parent through the first call and help you see if the program is the right fit before committing.

1

Short Consultation with Velma

The Velma AI assistant will call you for a consultation to talk through what a call is like, answer your questions, and schedule a free introductory session for your mom.

2

Attend the free introductory session

One of our care managers (like JJ, in the video above) will call your mom during the time window you selected.

During the call, they will be gently introduced to the program, try a few simple exercises, and meet their personalized AI assistant.

3

Review and decide

After the call, your care manager will check in to make sure the program feels like the right fit before officially starting.

Meet the people behind Velma.

Our founder Lisa built Velma for her mom and for yours.

From Our Founder

I'm Lisa, the founder of Velma. Supporting my mom from several states away made me realize how hard it was to provide consistent care. I worried about her isolation, and that the long stretches she spent alone at home were accelerating her decline. As a biomedical engineer, I wanted to create a way to support her daily and feel confident I was doing everything I could to help her.

Since using Velma, my mom's mood is brighter, and our conversations feel lighter and more meaningful. I can feel confident she's getting the support she needs, even if I can't be there all the time.

Our Team

Alongside Lisa is a compassionate team of care managers, engineers, practitioners, and advisors who bring this program to life every day. Empathy is core to how we grow. Many of our team members have supported family members with memory loss themselves or worked closely with families facing these challenges.

We want you to feel that you’re not just using a program. You have people who genuinely care, understand what you’re going through, and are here to support both you and your family member.

The Science Behind Velma

Velma is built on established cognitive stimulation and reminiscence research showing that consistent mental engagement can support memory, mood, and daily functioning over time.

What we're seeing in participants

The program tracks 10 cognitive domains. Participants show an average of +35% improvement in at least 2 domains within the first 1–2 months.

Families consistently report their parent is noticeably happier, more focused, and more engaged within the first month. Parents who were initially hesitant come around quickly and begin looking forward to their sessions.

Why this works

High cognitive reserve, built through regular engagement, delays symptom onset by years, even after physical brain changes have begun. You can learn more about our research here.
